Club Health Assessment – Our Club is # 1 of the top 6 Clubs in the District for growth.

– Lion Harrison reported that it looks like the Club’s Net Profit from STAMPEDE this year is $9,178.50 – Thanks to everyone in the Club for doing your part! … with special Thanks to Lion Strang for donating the porta-pottys (a roughly $1,600 in-kind contribution).

– Flag Program – Unpaid participants (under 30) have been emailed their final notice – letting them know that during the week of May 23rd, any remaining unpaid flags will be picked up.  Route Lions were emailed their route lists after meeting – update to be emailed on May 19th.

– Quarterly Dues Invoices – thank you for paying promptly.

– Belton Lion Business Cards – keep handing out those cards – inviting prospective new members.

– The Club will return to having a separate Secretary and a separate Treasurer for the 2022-2023 year.  Lion Stagner will remain as Secretary.  Please consider volunteering to serve as Treasurer.  Our new year begins on July 1st. –

– Plate Spinning Contest – Judy Garrett loves the idea and will keep this in mind for upcoming events.

– Eyeglass Drop Boxes – the Post Office no longer sells old mail drop boxes to the public.  David Leigh has found large free standing “mail-boxes” at a reasonable price. (see sample)

Program:  – Stampede, April 30th: After Action Meeting:

Everyone was applauded for their contribution to the EVENT.  Special accolades were given to David Shaw for the untold works that he has done each year in the background – WOW … just WOW!

 

Some of the notes for STAMPEDE improvement:

– Patti Powell volunteered to create a Stampede on the Chisholm Trail facebook page.
– KOM Beau Wiist volunteered to coordinate and communicate with Wheel Brothers and other bike ride clearing houses.
– John Corsi is creating a “play book” for the event; with a timeline starting in January.
– The Club (John Corsi) has created a committee for the Event – dividing responsibilities – they will start meeting soon to plan for next year – March 29th.
– KOM Beau Wiist, Brett Beamesderfer and Reese Davis anticipate that we could have 400 riders next year – we will need additional help with registration.
– Starting in 2023, we will have a Friday evening Packet Pick-up.
– We need to send out in-kind donation request letters to Shipley’s, Church’s, Starbucks, H-E-B, Wal-Mart and Sam’s in February.
– Contact Belton Area Chamber for Welcome Bags in early February – include Belton Lions business’ promotional items and/or coupons.  Solicit other coupons to include.
– Jon Fontenot has created and will propose an alternate route to eliminate the Hwy 95 portion.
– Jon Fontenot has designed a photo op backdrop and will get pricing.
– Plan to supply tent canopy for Rest Stop 3 and 4.
– Mike Matthews advised us that each of the route detailed layouts can be mapped and a QR code applied for riders to download.  KOM Beau Wiist offered to help with this.
– We will need more Gatorade, bananas, power bars, etc. – plus maybe some oranges.
– The Club will invest in new directional arrow signs.
– James Harrison suggested that the Club explore accepting credit cards, venmo, paypal, etc.

  – Mac & Jayne Hickerson just celebrated their 65th Anniversary!

– Flag Program –During the first week in May, the unpaid participants will receive a final invoice. Any unpaid by May 20th will be informed that unpaid flags will be picked up during the week before Memorial Day.  We currently have 152 flags out (s/b $4,560); current payments $3,360. Flag lists will be handed out next meeting for personal route contacts.

– Stampede, April 30th: Online Registration is open. Sponsor, Ride Maps and registration forms are on our webpage. We have 45 riders now.  Bike Ride Promo will be published during week of April 24th – both papers.

– Flag Program – Renewal emails to unpaid participants were sent. Then, during the first week in May, the unpaid participants will receive a final invoice. Any unpaid by May 20th will be informed that unpaid flags will be picked up during the week before Memorial Day.  100 new extra durable flags delivered today!

– Bike Route Promo – Discussion about newspaper on-line advertising; and then print advertising in both papers during the week before the event; plus sending a Press Release to each paper.  Motion to do the advertising by James Harrison; 2nd by Mac Hickerson; vote – approved.

– Georgetown Eye-Glasses Boxes – we might look into these glasses boxes for downtown Belton.  If anyone has connections with the Post Office – they have retired several of their old boxes to put in the larger double ones.

– Vision Assistance Program / Ideal Eye Team (formerly Belton Eye Care) – The Board has been looking into vetting these clients for subsidy payment of eyeglasses and exam.  They have presented the Club with an agreement to examine and provide glasses for $100.00 (18 yr. and under). Co-pay for the patient would be $25.  The Club has previously agreed to capping the overall expenses annually at $500.00.  Motion by accept the agreement by James Harrison; 2nd by Karen Stagner; vote – approved.

– Next Board Meeting – we will address our Heritage Park Plan again; and open Nominations for our new Club officers.

Program: Lion Carpenter invited Coleman Hampson, Director, Bell County Museum – tremendous program on the History of the Museum, Carnegie Library, History of Belton, Special Traveling Exhibits, the Gault Site Exhibit, Photo Galleries, Education, and Museum Activities … Thank you!

Business:

– Dues Payments: Club looks pretty good – only 3 members are delinquent.  Invoices go out this weekend.

–  Accounting: Bank Accounts

– Flag Program – we have 61 flags unpaid out of 148.  Notices will be sent over the weekend.  May will be the final notice; they will be advised that if not paid, their flags will be picked up during the week before Memorial Day.  James motioned to accept that plan, 2nd by Mac Hickerson; all agreed.

– Lions Club Badges – 4 badges – the bill was almost $80.00.

– Presidents Goal is to surpass Salado in New Members – in our District.

– Reports to LCI – we make monthly membership reports to LCI.  Our Club should be reporting time and event reports to LCI – monthly.  District wants submissions to the monthly District Newsletter.

– Founder’s Day – April 21st Charter Night – Lion Corsi and Lion Stagner will not be available.  Lion Harrison will take the Lead on the Event.

 – Stampede, April 30th: Online Registration is open. Past Riders will be emailed again 1st week of April. Sponsor, Ride Maps and registration forms are on our webpage.

– Flag Program – We need a volunteer to work with Lion Griffin on Route 4.

 – Reminder: Quarterly Dues will now be $150.00 – invoicing 1st week of April.

 – Belton Lion Business Cards – keep handing out those cards – inviting prospective new members.

 – Charter Night will be on April 21st – there will not be a lunch meeting on the 21st.

 – The Club will return to having a separate Secretary and a separate Treasurer for the 2022-2023 year.
Lion Stagner will remain as Secretary.  Please consider volunteering to serve as Treasurer.  Our new year begins on July 1st.
Program: Lion Fontenot invited Amy Yeager, the new Bell County Public Health Director – what a delightfully informative presentation. She comes to us from Penn State & St. Louis; with a wealth of community involvement, education and experience … and now calls TEXAS home!  Welcome and Thank You!

 – Flag Program – Renewals are still steadily coming in. Club Secretary has re-invoiced the unpaid participants.  Note:  We need a volunteer to work with Lion Griffin on Route 4.

 – Reminder: Effective January 2022 – the GIN has raised the lunch price by $2.00, due to increased supply costs.  The increase will be reflected on the April invoice statements. Quarterly Dues will now be $150.00.

 – Secretary/Treasurer Lion Stagner has requested that for the new July 1st year Officers, the Club return to having a separate Secretary and a separate Treasurer – citing the numerous new members that could help with the organization of the Club.  Lion Stagner would like to remain Secretary; and will assist in training/familiarization for the new Treasurer during the interim. 

Program: Lion Matthews invited Judy Garrett, CVB/Retail Development, City of Belton. Great presentation about business, growth and opportunities in the City – from the always exciting ~ ever amazing Judy Garrett.  You had to be there!  Thank You!
