Board Meeting Recap:

– BLC Promotional Retractable Banner – The Board approved artwork and okayed proceeding with purchasing.

– Club Excellence Award – to be eligible for this year, incoming Board Members must complete online training; and the Club must do a new Service Project – Jennah and Bree will organize a Clean-up on the Creek – before July 1st.

– District Cabinet Meeting / District Convention – April 27- Waco, Texas – Hilton – the Board approved for President Keith to attend as a Delegate for BLC.

Club President’s plaques – the Board approved to present “Gavel Plaques” to all BLC Presidents (including Past Presidents) that are still active in the Club.

Announcements:

– HOCTIL Families Easter Food Baskets – Delivery TODAY – Jennah, Christa & Bree – Thank you for organizing this.  Thank you to delivery volunteers!

– Charter Night – Friday evening, May 3rd – James – sign up passing – will be plated dinner/no charge to Belton Lion and one guest – there will not be a regular lunch meeting on Thursday, May 2nd
– Wacky Boat Race –October 5th – Danny – please “share” the video posts on the Lions on the Leon Wacky Boat Race Facebook Page.  Assembling Video Crew: Danny, Emily, Wayne, Jennah, Cree, Reese, Mary … volunteers WELCOME!

– Stampede – June 8th – Active Registration is now open! Need Sponsors! Thank you Mike Matthews for getting our first sponsor – Cochran, Blair & Potts – Thank you Rob Potts/Cochran, Blair & Potts!

Dues Invoices delivered today – 3rd Quarter (January thru March)

Flag Program Unpaid Invoices will go out next week – urging payment before Memorial Day.

UMHB President’s Leadership Circle “A Season of Purpose” Indoor Picnic, Tuesday, April 23, 6pm – RSVP’d for 2 Representatives from Belton Lions Club – President Keith Cook and 1st VP Jennah Gliha will attend.

– FYI: J.A.I.L. Ministry’s Harold Ellis Memorial Golf Tournament, Monday, May 20th, Stonetree Golf Club

Old Business:

– Charter Night – May 3rd, in the evening. Inviting District and Club Dignitaries; James Harrison presented the Board with a projected budget for the celebration.

– Membership Milestone Awards –The Board agreed that Milestones will be in five (5) year increments; starting at 10 year membership. –John Corsi and Jennah Gliha – plaque designs suggestions are included with recap

– Service Plaques – Danny Dossman presented the history of service plaques for President, Lion of the Year and other; and suggested that we look into going back into the nicer LCI plaques that the Club had given years ago – The Board voted to approve the Gavel Plaque; and will order the plaque for each Past President that is still active in the Club).

– Banner Stand and/or Specialty Products – Retractable banner – Secretary Stagner – handout – The Board approved the artwork and has given the okay to move forward with the purchase.

– Club Excellence Award – Secretary Stagner will apply for this year in July.  The Club will need to “start a new service project from one of the LCI Global Causes” to qualify.  BLC has already satisfied the other requirements. Jennah and Bree will organize a Clean up the Creek.

– District Cabinet Meeting/Convention – April 26-27, Waco – The Board approved for President Keith to attend as the Delegate for our Club.  

New Business:

– Meredith Duke, Duke Realty / Leadership Belton Class of 2024 – Welcome to Belton Sign – wants to come talk to us at a lunch meeting.  The Board okayed for Ms Duke to come speak. 

Club Metrics: 1,770 people served / 13 Service Activities Completed, 849 Volunteer Hours, $7,500 Funds Donated, $2,900 Funds Raised  

Holding to a Later Date:

– Update on Cadence Bank – CD and other –we should have the CD purchase complete by the end of March. 
– 
David Shaw – Deployment bags are requested for our Adopted Unit – tabled until Lion Shaw is able to provide details.
– Belton Lions Wall at Heritage Park – James Harrison coordinating – plans are progressing.  Tabled until after Picnic in the Park.
– LEO – Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity
– Specialty Products: We found Lions squeeze toys.; and the previous BLC giant coloring book (given to Lea and Lorna to look into at the District and State level).  Fall Festival give-aways were about 50 of each item.  Lion(s) Corsi and Fontenot will continue to look into specialty products.

Sheriff Lange and Major Sowell updated us on the process of the new jail and what they’re doing differently, from mental health wing to additional security in each pod of the facility.

– Our Club is at a +4 for membership this 2023-2024 year.  Let’s keep building our Club!

– Club Excellence Award for 2023-2024 – Secretary Stagner will apply for this year in July.  The Club still needs to “start a new service project from one of the LCI Global Causes” to qualify.  Team Leaders for the new Service Project: Jennah Gliha and Bree Vlam. Lion President Keith Cook recommended that the Club keep going “Clean up on the Leon”.

– Donation to Texas Lions Museum and Donation to Texas Lions Foundation – the Board discussed, voted and agreed to pay the optional voluntary donation to each.

Program: Bring Everyone in the ZONE!  Thank you, Lion Brett Beamesderfer, for in inviting our guest speaker, Greg Gutierrez with In The Zone! Greg served 20 years of active duty in the military! Thank you for your service, Greg. The Zone is a non-profit that helps Service Members, Veterans and their Families! If you know any Veterans or anyone still serving in the military that are needing any assistance, get with Greg Gutierrez.
