Meeting – March 18

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021
Hello fellow Belton Lions – March 18th – Lunch Meeting Review – Thank You President Harrison for taking notes during the Secretary’s absence.

Meeting was called to order by Club President Harrison.

Announcements – 
 – “Picnic in the Park” will be the official title for our new Annual Fundraiser at Heritage Park.
 –  Lion Tuma is getting better and extends his grateful appreciation for his fellow Lions providing meals this week, as he recovers.
 – Reminder: Belton Lion Ball Caps are available – $20 each
Stampede Update –
 – Sponsorships are now up to $3,725 – President Harrison’s goal is $4,000.
 – Posters/Flyers are being ordered.
Charter Night 
 – On April 21st, our Club will be 82 years old.  Lion President Harrison has suggested that our meeting on April 29th, we should have a Charter Night.  Instead of the usual lunch meeting, we will meet in the evening for a social celebration! (much like we did for Christmas) Spouses/Guests Welcome – sign up sheet will be distributed.
Disc Golf Tournament Update
 – Disc Golf Tournament, where our Club will be selling hot dogs, chips and water – under the Lions Pavilion at Heritage Park from 10a-2p on Saturday, March 20th; and again, same time on Sunday, March 21st.  Volunteer Sign-up sheet was passed.
Facebook Member Focus –
 – Each month, we will spotlight one member – photo, who they are and why they are a Belton Lion.
 – Who’s Who form will be available at lunch meetings.
BLC Lions Club Vests –
 – Gold Lion vests are available to order @$39.95 each, plus shipping (includes Club personalization on back).
 – The first order has been made … allow three weeks for delivery.  Name Badges have also been ordered.
 – Optional: After your vest is received – we can have your name embroidered, above the patch – locally.
USA Flag Program –
 – As of 3/18/2021, we have received 112 renewals.  Each week, new renewals will be distributed to Routes – Thank You Route Teams!
 – Easter Sunday will be the first suggested date to fly the flags – email will be sent.
 – Lion Shaw, Lion Knight and Lion Stagner will be point of contact for questions or assistance.
Easter Meal for HOCTIL Families – Sign-up list is attached
 – The Club will be providing Easter Meal food baskets for five (5) HOCTIL families of children with special needs.
 – Thank You to those who have signed up.
 – Delivery is planned for Thursday, April 1st.
Guest Speaker Program: Lion Matthews invited Bradley Ellis, US Army Corp of Engineers to talk about our area Lakes; and we were treated to a surprise additional speaker, Texas Game Warden Bryan Dulock. They talked about crowds at the lakes, created by COVID-19, some road expansion projects, Zebra mussels in the lakes – and Warden Dulock answered several questions about boating, responsibility and safety.  Thank you Lion Matthews!

Over the weekend, we were out at Heritage Park in the Belton Lions Pavilion – providing hot dog lunches to the participants and spectators at The Open Disc Golf Championship! Great Event! and Great People! Looking forward to SERVING at next year’s Event!

Announcements –

 – Lion Listi informed the Club that Lion Tuma had a heart attack; in the hospital; should be going home Friday.
    Lion Shaw suggested that the Club Members offer assistance by providing him a meal per day as he
    recovers.  Lion Listi will extend that offer to Lion Tuma.
 – Happy Birthday to Lion Strang (3/12) – sing-along …
 – Lion Shaw informed the Club that – according to the Ft. Hood Military Relations Council – we might be getting
    back our Military Representative member soon.
 – Reminder: Belton Lion Ball Caps are available – $20 each
Stampede Update –
 – Sponsorships are now up to $3,300 – President Harrison’s goal is $4,000.
 – New today – Chuck Wagon Sponsor Blue Ridge Ranch & Wrangler Sponsor Diamond G Ranch.
 – Posters/Flyers will be ordered soon.
 – City of Alvin has a bike ride that takes place prior to ours; and has offered to put our flyer in their packets.
    President Harrison will coordinate with them.

 – Jim Hudson updated the Club on the upcoming Disc Golf Tournament, where our Club will be selling hot dogs, chips and drinks – under the Lions Pavilion at Heritage Park from 10a-2p on Saturday, March 20th; and again, same time on Sunday, March 21st.  433 players have already registered./ there will be major media / Sunday will be live on the Disc Golf Network.
President Harrison will coordinate our vendor participation at our next lunch meeting.

 – New Stampede Sponsors – Pain Specialists of Austin, Blackland Implement, ABC Pest Control Home and Commercial Services, John Corsi/State Farm, Wal-Mart Belton.  President Harrison’s goal is $4,000; current sponsorships are at $2875.00.
 – Board Meeting scheduled for today – one topic will be the new LCI event and insurance rules.
 – Lion Dossman provided members with his annual Remembering the Alamo update – Thank You!
 – Reminder: Belton Lion Ball Caps are available – $20 each
