Meeting – November 18th

Hello Belton Lions … Have a Blessed Week & Thanksgiving!
1.  We have had a request from Temple Belton Ladies Lions Club for a Vision Screening partnership on December 7th, from Noon-3pm. They would like to have 2 people from our Club join them in a vision screening project with Body of Christ Community clinic in Belton.  Please let Lion Corsi know if you are able to participate.  If this goes well, Donna Dunn the executive director of the Clinic would like to have us out monthly to do screenings.
2.  Please see attached “Belton’s Christmas on the Chisholm Trail” flyer, kicking off the Holiday Season – we hope to see you ALL at these Christmas activities – Mark Your Calendar!

Announcements.

·         SALUTE to our Belton Lion Veterans – Thanks retired Lt. Colonel Bonnie Wilson
·         Happy Birthday: Patti Powell
·         5 Thanksgiving Food Baskets for HOCTIL families – Thank you to everyone for your contributions & for helping deliver the baskets.  Thank you Lion Dossman for the last minute grocery run for last minute items.
·         The Club is looking at 2022 dates for our STAMPEDE Bike Ride – 2nd VP Harrison is looking at April 30th; and will get with Lion Shaw.
·         Belton Lions Christmas Party, December 16th (evening) at The GIN
·         2022 Officers; Installation will be the meeting after Thanksgiving, December 2nd?
·         Effective January 2022 – the GIN is raising the lunch price by $2.00, due to increased supply costs.  The increase will be reflected on the April Invoice/Statements.
·         The GIN has had a change in their Events Coordinator; and will NOT be able to make the Gift Cards we had discussed for a fundraiser.  Lion President Corsi is researching other options.
·         Lion Secretary Stagner thanked everyone for getting USA flags replaced for Veteran’s Day.  We need to order new flags and schedule a work day to replace flags at the Journal.
·         Lion Secretary Stagner presented the B.I.S.D. Heartbeat Angel Christmas tags for adoption. Deadline for return of gifts is Monday, December 6th.

New Business:
·         Discuss Christmas Connections Toy Donation Partnership (Chris Gregg)
·         Lion President Corsi has asked Patti Powell to look into business Cards to invite new members and get us a price
·         Need to make a new Program Assignments for 2022
·         Call for Leadership  board meeting- Short meeting after lunch
·         The Board will discuss a letter received from Scout Troop 114 regarding a request to sponsor their Charter.
·         The Club has received a letter from an underserved family requesting our Club sponsor an examination and eyeglasses for her son.  President Corsi will contact them and refer them to our Belton Eye Care contacts.

 
Program:  Lion Stagner / Margaret Chadwick – Eldred’s Nursery
Thank you Margaret Chadwick for an informative, exciting and heartwarming presentation about the history, purpose and future outlook at Eldred’s Nursery – established in January 2017 for the purpose of offering job training for individuals with disabilities.  Great people with great hearts and insights.

Program: In honor and remembrance of Veterans Day, Lion Shockley invited highly decorated Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Bonnie Wilson – over 27 years of Active Duty; plus Reserve – retired in August 2018. What an honor to have LTC Wilson address the Club!  This was a memorable day for Belton Lions!  Thank You for your Service!
