Belton Lions: About Us

Lions have a Dynamic History. Our motto is, “We Serve.”  Founded in 1917, we have 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs in 206 countries and geographic areas worldwide.  Belton Lions Club is a dynamic group of individuals committed to making Belton a better place to work and live.  The club meets at noon each Thursday at The GIN on Nolan Creek.

Belton Lions Serve the Community.  From building and helping maintain Lions Pavilion in Heritage Park to helping assemble equipment at Chisholm Trail Park, Belton Lions are committed to enhancing the quality of life for area residents.  The Belton Lions Club installed a Special Needs Playground at Heritage Park in Belton.

Each Thanksgiving and Christmas, Belton Lions partner with Heart of Central Texas Independent Living (HOCTIL) to provide Food Baskets to under-served families of Children with Special Needs.

Belton Lions Serve Youth. Our community projects support local children and schools through Scholarships for Belton High graduates.   The Club partners with BISD to help Project HEARTBEAT by  providing Christmas for students and their siblings in the homeless program. The Belton Lions Club supports Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas.  The primary purpose of the camp is to provide, without charge, a camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired and diabetic children.

Belton Lions Give Sight. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. Belton Lions Club participates in the Lions International Eyeglass Recycling Program, which provides eyeglasses for many needy individuals in developing nations. On a local level, Belton Lions Club works with Belton Independent School District health care professionals to provide free eye exams for needy local youth.
