Board Meeting Recap:
 – Service Metrics: 11,222 people served / 2,604.5 Volunteer Hours / $5,456 Donated / $6,786 Raised
 – Board approved purchasing an ad in the Penguin Project program book – $100
 – For STAMPEDE, Board approved purchasing 17 boxes of health snacks at 50% value from MPR Ladies Auxiliary – they were left-over from the recent Roses for Hoses 5K. – The Club will participate in the Belton 4th of July Parade with a walking entry.  New banner purchase was approved.  It was suggested that our mascot ride in a golf cart or on Danny’s spider bike.
 – This year’s Stampede T-Shirt will be purple with bright gold logos. 

Regular Business  

– CTBR (Central Texas BBQ Roundup) Financial Update from George Bunker will be at the next meeting.

– STAMPEDE on the Chisholm Trail, May 9th – only 2 weeks out from the STAMPEDE.
We currently have 45 paid riders signed up – ahead of where we were last year.  In the last two weeks before the 2025 ride, 54 riders signed up & 24 signed up on-site.
Swag Bag assembly has been changed to Friday, April 24th (150 bags)
Volunteer Sign-up Sheet passing – ALL HANDS ON DECK

– Environmental Week of Service, April 18-26 – Joint Project Opportunity –The District Clubs are building beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Saturday, April 25th, 8am-Noon) for homeless kids and new beds for Texas Lions Camp new bunkhouses.  Flier on tables. 

– Mark your Calendar – Tomorrow, Friday, April 24th, 10am, Heritage Park – Tree Dedication Ceremony for 2025 Beltonian Wayne Carpenter; and Citizen Rebecca Briggs. Flier 

– 2026-2027 Slate of Club Officers – call for nominations to close: Motion by Lion Rob Potts; 2nd by Lion Wayne Carpenter; closed

Program: Lion David Leigh invited John Holmes with Raymond-James. Lion Sam Listi introduced our guest speaker.  Great presentation about the financial markets and investing! And, an interesting Q&A.  Thank you!

– Belton 4th of July Parade, “Celebrating 250 Years of America!” – Parade Safety Meeting: Saturday, June 20th, 10-11am; June 24th, 6-7pm. Deadline to submit parade application is June 17, 2026.

– Texas Lions Camp – we have a family going to Family Camp – Session 9, July 22-24, 2026. Salazar Family of Four (4). Thank you Lion Keith Cook for coordinating this. PID Sam Lindsey will provide a Camp Tour at 2pm on Friday, July 24th.

– Captain “D” Dash for “Sight”, October 3rd, Route totally within Heritage Park established; we have contracted and paid deposit to have a timed run to attract more runners – we’re still looking for underwriters for the Timing ($1,200), for Award Medals ($500), and for T-Shirts ($750). Who will help solicit?

– USA/Canada Leadership Forum, September 3-5, Memphis, Tennessee

– LCICON (International) 2030 will be in San Antonio, Texas; hosted by Texas Lions

– Lions Field @Smith and West 5th could use some updates. Jon Fontenot will get Parks & Rec to explore options – tabled until we have more information.

Deadline for the t-shirts is tomorrow, April 17thDeadline for Sponsorships is also tomorrow, April 17th. Hand-out for Volunteer T-Shirts sign up passed.

We still need Swag Bag donations (150 bags) – company fliers, giveaways, discount coupons, etc. Swag Bag assembly is planned for Saturday, April 25th. Don Ringler Chevrolet is providing the bags for us to fill and pens for the bags. Lion Potts is contributing 150 items/coupons. And, of course, the Chamber is always generous with their contributions. If you or any of our sponsors have fliers or brochures to include in the bags, please let Lion Karen know asap.

We need Bib Raffle items (32) – Lion Pam Blair has contacted 17 companies & has items in-hand; Lion Rebecca Hutton has provided 4-$25 gift cards & 1-$100 gift card; Ladies Auxiliary MPR VFD is donating 6 items unclaimed from Roses for Hoses – so, we currently have 25 of the 32 items needed.

Along with sample cases, work station, shifts – how it all works. We appreciate our 911 Communications Center does daily to keep us safe in Bell County.

Program: Lion David Leigh presented Rucker Preston, Executive Director of Family Promise of Bell County. Empowering families experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through an outcome oriented, community-based response. From 2004 to today, starting with congregations; then Promise House; then Promise Homes; growing and helping families.
Great Update Presentation!  We look forward to hearing what’s next! Thank You!
