Old Business:

– Flag Program – (handout) which flags have been picked up? Current report – 13 unpaid flags. After discussion, it was agreed to remove the unpaid from the flag list / no need to pick up flags / Flag Team will be asked to check with Secretary for payment – prior to replacing flags.

– Specialty Products: Karen update for the approved $300 worth of give-aways: After product presentations and discussion, the Board approved / motion by John Corsi; 2nd by Jon Fontenot; voted approval:

  A.  500 BLC personalized “Learn About Eye Care” coloring books, from 4imprint @ $300.00 plus shipping,
B.  200 BLC personalized microfiber cleaning cloths, full color print, 5.9”x5.9” @ $129.98
C.  Increase spending amount to cover both purchases

New Business:

– MD-2 Texas Lions – Hurricane Relief for District MD-31 – North Carolina – Urgent need for money donations.  Jennah is checking with our other District Clubs; and will advise the Board by text.

– America’s Best invoices for eyeglasses – Four (4) invoices for $79.95 each. America’s Best does not charge the families for the eye exam; they only charge for a basic pair of eyeglasses.  As per our agreement with Temple-Belton Ladies Lions; and within our $500 annual budget for eyeglasses – Jon Fontenot motioned, 2nd by John Corsi to pay the four (4) invoices; voted approval.

– Tara Cotton (Belton) email to Lions International – daughter needs behind the ear hearing aids for bone conduction – insurance won’t cover the cost.  Karen Stagner will contact Mother to get the full information; records; and manufacturer quote. 

– BLC Constitution and By-Laws – suggesting a Board Member take the Lead on this to work with the Committee. From the meeting, July 25th, the Committee consists of: Brett Beamesderfer, Larry Berg, James Harrison, Jennah Gliha, Wayne Carpenter & Karen Stagner. Now that we have a copy from the Secretary of State, the Committee needs to begin an update. Club Secretary will send out what we have – to the committee members.

– Mac Hickerson membership – After discussion, the Board agreed (motion by Mike Matthews, 2nd by Jon Fontenot & John Corsi) to submit Charles “Mac” Hickerson to LCI for Life Membership; and once the certificate and membership card are received by the Club Secretary, we will plan an evening meeting with cake and slide presentation – to award Mac.  Secretary Stagner will coordinate with Mac’s family and LCI.  We will get Kat (Belton Chamber) to design a t-shirt for Mac “International Renowned Plate Spinner”; and get it printed by H&H.  We will also present Mac with one of the spinning plates, signed by all of the BLC members.

Holding to a Later Date: 

– Membership Milestone Awards – Will we be presenting these at Christmas?  The Board agreed that Milestones will be in five (5) year increments; starting at 10 year membership. – John Corsi and Jennah Gliha.  Secretary has provided a Report of each member’s length of membership. – No discussion at this meeting
– Friends of Belton Lions – additional Friend of Belton Lions: Hugh Shine has been approved – plaque has not been made – we need to schedule his lunch visit.
– Update on Cadence Bank – CD and other – on hold
– David Shaw – Deployment bags are requested for our Adopted Unit – tabled until Lion Shaw is able to provide details.

– We have received four (4) eyeglass invoices from America’s Best for Belton children.  The Board will discuss the payments at the meeting today for formal approval and payment.

– Ribbon Cutting in honor of the Welcome to Belton Sign by the Leadership Belton Group – October 17, 10:00am, 3908 TX 317, Belton. Lion(s) Larry Berg, Sam Listi, Jon Fontenot, Wayne Carpenter, David Leigh attended.  Our Club is proud to be a supporter of the Leadership Belton Sign Project.

Program: Thank you, Lion John Corsi, for inviting our guest speaker for this Thursday, Tammie Baggerly. Tammie is the President of the Delta Program for BISD. The Delta Program helps adults with special needs from ages 18-21, to learn key skills to transition into independent living and work. We appreciate you, Tammie, for everything you and your staff does to make such a difference for these young adult lives.

– Belton Lions have been invited, as a Supporter/Sponsor, to the Ribbon Cutting in honor of the Welcome to Belton Sign by the Leadership Belton Group – October 17, 10:00am, 3908 TX 317, Belton.

– Lions on the Leon – October 5th – update from Danny –   Get your T-Shirt.  Pirate Costumes are encouraged.  Lion Mayor David Leigh is participating in the 5K as a full Pirate!

– Next District Meeting, October 12, Athens, Texas – As of today, our Club will not be represented at the meeting. President Jennah will advise DG Renee Lamson.

– Mark Bellomy presented that Business Network International meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00am, Church of Christ on Hwy 317; they offer no charge membership to non-profits; he suggested that the Club might want to join the Network.

– The Club now has a storage unit at Belton Mini Storage.  All supplies that were in Secretary’s personal storage are now in the Belton storage. Please contact Club Secretary for unit number and lock code to take supplies, information and records to storage.
– Lions Foundation Annual Report – Belton Lions Club Foundation By-Laws and Constitution. Texas Secretary of has provided a copy of the Articles of Incorporation from 1988.  By-Laws Committee to update soon.
