– Ad Resources “Dining & Shopping Spree” Coupon books: Phil Reed requested an opportunity to pitch the Club Board to consider signing on as a “Sponsor” of the 2025-2026 Coupon Books. After presenting his information, the Board agreed to reach out to references provided; and examine the “contract” … Board will discuss participation after all is compiled.
– BLC Constitution and By-Laws – Officers and contact information is in the process of being updated; Constitution will remain as currently written. Club Secretary will submit to Texas Comptroller’s Office.
– Did the Club officially vote in the 2025-2026 Slate of Officers? Complete Slate of 2025-26 Officers will be presented to Club at next lunch meeting; if no other nominations; vote will take place.
– Club Excellence Award – qualifications have changed – LCIF required contribution has been raised to $10 per member (doubled)
Plus, we started the 2024-2025 year with 42 members – currently have 37 – we would need 7 new members by June 30th. After lengthy discussion, the Board made the difficult decision to no longer apply for the patch.
– International Peace Poster Contest – kits for 2025-2026 are now available – if we want to participate, we only need one kit, $11.95 plus taxes and fees or ordering online to avoid fees and shipping cost. The Board discussed and agreed to participate. Keith Cook will oversee the Club’s participation in the Contest. Karen Stagner will order the kit.
– MD 2-X3 District Convention – March 29, Saturday, 8am – 3pm, Clifton, Texas – does anyone want to go – Jennah can not go. We will pass the Sign-up during the next luncheon meeting to see if there is anyone who will go and represent Belton Lions Club.
– Texas Lions Camp – June 13th, evening meal opportunity to provide, cook and serve for Camp Graduation; joint project with other District Clubs – interest? Angela Cases presented the opportunity to President Jennah as a Joint Project between 3 Clubs at a total cost of about $1,800 ($600 per Club). Jennah will get back with Angela and will provide more information at the March Board Meeting.
– Lions Field, Smith Street and W. 5th Avenue – Jon Fontenot reminded the Board that our Club is a sponsor of the Baseball Field; the Park could use some updates; he is asking the Club to expand the sponsorship to an annual or other Support. First suggestion would be $500 per year; Jon will explore other options of Support and will provide more information at the March Board Meeting.
Holding to a Later Date:
– Membership Milestone Awards – Will we be presenting these at Christmas? The Board agreed that Milestones will be in five (5) year increments; starting at 10 year membership. – John Corsi and Jennah Gliha. Secretary has provided a Report of each member’s length of membership. – No discussion at this meeting
– Friends of Belton Lions – additional Friend of Belton Lions: Hugh Shine has been approved – plaque has not been made – we need to schedule his lunch visit – we are scheduled to do this January 9th.
– Update on Cadence Bank – CD and other – on hold
– Belton Lions Wall at Heritage Park – James Harrison coordinating
– LEO – Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity
– Tara Cotton (Belton) email to Lions International – daughter needs behind the ear hearing aids for bone conduction – insurance won’t cover the cost – pending family fundraising efforts to supplement any donations – to be updated in 2025.
– Lions on the Leon AAR Meeting – is there an update from Belton City Council about a beer & wine permit in Heritage Park? The 5K run did not make the Cen-Tex Race Series.
