We are only 6 months out and should start soliciting sponsors now. Jennah will get with Brett.

– District MD2X3 Joint Service Project, with McLane’s Children’s Hospital, Saturday, December 14, Ralph Wilson Youth Center, Temple. All Clubs in our District are urged to participate.  More info to come from District.

– Pictures with Santa for Children with Special Needs and their Siblings will be Thursday, December 19^th – 5:30pm – 8pm, Harris Community Center.  Sign up sheet to provide cookies; and/or to work the event on December 5^th.

– MD2X3 Mid Winter District, Saturday, January 18, Gober Party House, Temple, Hosted by Temple Founders Lions.

Program:  Lion PP Keith Cook invited representatives from the B.I.S.D. Project Angel’s HEARTBEAT.  What an amazing program to assist families and students who are underserved and in need.  Thank you!

Old Business:

– Flag Program – (handout) which flags have been picked up? Current report – 13 unpaid flags. After discussion, it was agreed to remove the unpaid from the flag list / no need to pick up flags / Flag Team will be asked to check with Secretary for payment – prior to replacing flags.

– Specialty Products: Karen update for the approved $300 worth of give-aways: After product presentations and discussion, the Board approved / motion by John Corsi; 2^nd by Jon Fontenot; voted approval:

  A.  500 BLC personalized “Learn About Eye Care” coloring books, from 4imprint @ $300.00 plus shipping,
B.  200 BLC personalized microfiber cleaning cloths, full color print, 5.9”x5.9” @ $129.98
C.  Increase spending amount to cover both purchases

New Business:

– MD-2 Texas Lions – Hurricane Relief for District MD-31 – North Carolina – Urgent need for money donations.  Jennah is checking with our other District Clubs; and will advise the Board by text.

– America’s Best invoices for eyeglasses – Four (4) invoices for $79.95 each. America’s Best does not charge the families for the eye exam; they only charge for a basic pair of eyeglasses.  As per our agreement with Temple-Belton Ladies Lions; and within our $500 annual budget for eyeglasses – Jon Fontenot motioned, 2^nd by John Corsi to pay the four (4) invoices; voted approval.

– Tara Cotton (Belton) email to Lions International – daughter needs behind the ear hearing aids for bone conduction – insurance won’t cover the cost.  Karen Stagner will contact Mother to get the full information; records; and manufacturer quote. 

– BLC Constitution and By-Laws – suggesting a Board Member take the Lead on this to work with the Committee. From the meeting, July 25^th, the Committee consists of: Brett Beamesderfer, Larry Berg, James Harrison, Jennah Gliha, Wayne Carpenter & Karen Stagner. Now that we have a copy from the Secretary of State, the Committee needs to begin an update. Club Secretary will send out what we have – to the committee members.

– Mac Hickerson membership – After discussion, the Board agreed (motion by Mike Matthews, 2^nd by Jon Fontenot & John Corsi) to submit Charles “Mac” Hickerson to LCI for Life Membership; and once the certificate and membership card are received by the Club Secretary, we will plan an evening meeting with cake and slide presentation – to award Mac.  Secretary Stagner will coordinate with Mac’s family and LCI.  We will get Kat (Belton Chamber) to design a t-shirt for Mac “International Renowned Plate Spinner”; and get it printed by H&H.  We will also present Mac with one of the spinning plates, signed by all of the BLC members.

Holding to a Later Date: 

– Membership Milestone Awards – Will we be presenting these at Christmas?  The Board agreed that Milestones will be in five (5) year increments; starting at 10 year membership. – John Corsi and Jennah Gliha.  Secretary has provided a Report of each member’s length of membership. – No discussion at this meeting
– Friends of Belton Lions – additional Friend of Belton Lions: Hugh Shine has been approved – plaque has not been made – we need to schedule his lunch visit.
– Update on Cadence Bank – CD and other – on hold
– David Shaw – Deployment bags are requested for our Adopted Unit – tabled until Lion Shaw is able to provide details.

– Carolina’s Storm Damage – We received an email from MD-2 Lions Clubs of Texas about Hurricane Relief for District MD-31 – North Carolina.  The Board will discuss a donation at the meeting today – President Jennah will reach out to DG Renee Lamson.

– We have received four (4) eyeglass invoices from America’s Best for Belton children.  The Board will discuss the payments at the meeting today for formal approval and payment.

– October 19^th – Fall Festival for Children with Special Needs and their Siblings, Central Texas Christian School,  Sign-up sheet.  Volunteers arrive at Noon if you want to help with the overall set-up.  Vendor set-up begins at 1pm.  Event from 2-4pm.  Costumes Welcome.  Numbers Registered as of Friday, October 18: Families – 131; Children – 323; Adults – 286. Registration is still open.

– Thanksgiving Baskets for Special Needs Community – sign-up sheet to be passed starting November 7^th; delivery date November 21^st.

– Project HEARTBEAT BISD Homeless – Tag distribution Nov. 18-20; Gifts are due back December 11^th.
We normally take 10 children tags; could we increase it this year?  After discussion, the members agreed to increase the number to 20 –

– Pictures with Santa for Children with Special Needs and their Siblings will be Thursday, December 19^th – 5:30pm – 8pm, Harris Community Center.

Program: Thank you, Lion John Corsi, for inviting our guest speaker for this Thursday, Tammie Baggerly. Tammie is the President of the Delta Program for BISD. The Delta Program helps adults with special needs from ages 18-21, to learn key skills to transition into independent living and work. We appreciate you, Tammie, for everything you and your staff does to make such a difference for these young adult lives.

– Carolina’s Storm Damage – We received an email from MD-2 Lions Clubs of Texas about Hurricane Relief for District MD-31 – North Carolina.  The Board will discuss a donation at the meeting on the 17^th – President Jennah will reach out to DG Renee Lamson.

– We have received four (4) eyeglass invoices from America’s Best for Belton children.  The Board will discuss the payments at the meeting on the 17^th for formal approval and payment.

– Lions on the Leon – October 5^th – update from Danny –   Get your T-Shirt.  Pirate Costumes are encouraged.  Lion Mayor David Leigh is participating in the 5K as a full Pirate!

Board Meeting Recap:

– Fall Festival for Children with Special Needs – Saturday, October 19^th 2-4pm – The Board approved $75 to purchase candy.
– Specialty Products: The Board approved a budget of $300 for the Club to spend on Lion give-aways for events.
– 1^st Vice President – The Board would like to present a suggested slate to fill current officer positions.

– Belton Bacon, Blues and Brews, Friday/Saturday, September 27 & 28^th – confirmed to display Pearl and a few Pirates to promote the Boat Race Event.  Captain D is recruiting Pirates to help promote our event. Friday 5pm-9pm / Sat. 11am-7pm – Thank you to those who signed up. We currently have Karen, Danny, Patti, Cree & Jennah for Friday; Karen, Danny, Patti David, Keith & Jennah for Saturday.
