1.  The Board approved for James Harrison to move forward with planning a 2024 Fundraiser Cruise on Carnival Jubilee, January 13-20, 2024.

Program: Christa Strang invited the Honorable Ted Duffield to speak to the Club about SCOFFLAW. Judge Duffield provided an informative presentation explaining SCOFFLAW.  The law allows a freeze on vehicle registrations of those who owe the county/city/toll authority a fine or fee that is past due.  Great Presentation!  Thank You!

NOTE:  Called BOARD Meeting was held on Thursday, February 9^th; regarding relocating Lions Lunch to Deadfish Grill – starting February 23^rd.  A quorum was present. President Mike Matthews reported that all of our questions have been answered; and that Deadfish Grill has storage for our Flags, Banners & Stands.  Motioned to relocate by James Harrison; 2^nd by Jon Fontenot; voted to approve.

January General Account: $2,221.93
  January Activity Account: $28,794.84

– Dues and Lunch Pricing – Jon Fontenot – Dues, lunch and non-fundraiser expenses come from General Account. Average 13 weeks per quarter / $15 per week for lunch = $195. Plus, District Dues and LCI Dues twice per year.  Our current dues are $150 per quarter. The Club also pays for Speaker lunches and District Officer Guest lunches.  We have 29 regular members; and average 20-22 members per week at lunch. After a lengthy discussion, Danny Dossman made motion to raise quarterly dues to $180; 2^nd by Mac Hickerson; passed. April 1^st billing will be $180.00 per quarter.  Jon Fontenot will provide the Club with a full breakdown at a near future lunch meeting; and will announce the increase.

– USA Flag Program – Karen Stagner – update on payments – just under 50% paid.  Karen questioned whether the Board wanted her to email the “reminder”; or postal mail.  After discussion, it was decided to mail the invoices.

– Belton Lions Wall at Heritage Park – James Harrison coordinating – plans are progressing.

– Moving Eyeglass Collection Box – this was tabled at the January Board Meeting – left tabled.

– Banner Stand and Specialty products – John Corsi and Jon Fontenot – this was tabled at the January Board Meeting – left tabled.

New Business:

– James Harrison announced that he would like to plan a 2024 Benefit Cruise, coordinating with Your Travel Agent – Belton.  The cruise would be of no cost to the Club – Carnival matches a contribution built into the individual reservation for the cruise.  Cruise would also include transportation to and from Galveston from Belton.

Motion to move forward with the cruise plans by Jon Fontenot; 2^nd by Karen Stagner; passed.

– James Harrison would like to have Business Cards to use as he solicits sponsors for Picnic in the Park.  Karen Stagner will make the cards for him.

Picnic in the Park – James Harrison – update from 1^st Committee Meeting – James will be working on sponsors for: Event Sponsor; Entertainment Sponsor; Car or Bike Show Sponsor.  Temple-Belton Lady Lions will be there doing Vision Screening.  They are planning for Food Trucks at $250 per space; and a Fish Fry from 4-6 in the evening.  Their next meeting will be March 10^th at the Chamber.

Lions on the Leon Wacky Boat Race – update from 3^rd Committee Meeting- Danny Dossman updated with the Logo and plans for a promo float in the Belton 4^th of July Parade.  Handout of Save the Date flyer and Wacky Boat pictures.  Corrugated Category will have some basic rules; Wacky Category must be wacky – no traditional watercraft.  Heats in categories, then final eliminations; People’s Choice; President’s Award; Prizes will be trophies. Planning for no one under 8 to participate – anyone under 16 must be accompanied by parent – everyone signs waiver. Next planning meeting will be March 13^th, 6pm, Danny’s home.

Marek-Smith Training Center Donor Wall – Secretary Stagner suggested that the BLC sponsor a $2,500 contribution to show support and secure a listing on the Donor Wall. The Board agreed to present a sign-up pledge sheet at the next lunch meeting. Danny Dossman pledged $100.00 and is challenging each member to match his pledge (which he has already matched himself)…or more. It was agreed that the pledges should not be invoiced with dues. Pledge sheet passed around.
Stampede Coordinators – Reese Davis and Brett Beamesderfer On-line Active website is usually set-up in January to open for registrations. Stampede is April 29^th 2023.  Committee Meeting scheduled for 2pm Sunday, January 29^th at the home of Karen Stagner.

Marek-Smith Training Center Donor Wall – We will bring this out at the next meeting – taking pledges to reach a goal of $2,500 to get Belton Lions Club Foundation name on the donor wall at the Marek-Smith Training Center at UMHB.
Boat Races – 1^st Committee Planning Meeting will be Monday, January 23, 6pm, at the home of Danny Dossman.
Stampede – 1^st Committee Planning Meeting will be next week – information will be emailed.
Picnic in the Park – James Harrison has a Committee; Picnic in the Park will be held in conjunction with the Boat Races on October 7^th.
Wall of Honor – James Harrison presented a picture proposed location for the Wall. John Corsi motioned to accept the location; Mac Hickerson 2^nd; motion passed.  James will proceed with getting the cost to present to the Board.
T-Shirts – John Corsi has secured a price for blue Belton Lions T-Shirts, with gold lettering – for the Club to have a uniform look at events.  Sign up sheet for ordering will be passed starting at the next meeting – T-Shirt price will be $12 each.  Motion by Danny Dossman; 2nd by Karen Stagner; passed. We will order them from BeOne Marketing, Patti Powell.
Banner Stand and Specialty Products – John Corsi will continue to look into this.  Motion to table by John Corsi; 2^nd by Danny Dossman; tabled.

NEW BUSINESS:
Meal system at The GIN – Mike Matthews and Danny Dossman will check into pricing and logistics for lunch at Deadfish Grill.
Thursday, February 23^rd – the GIN has rented our room out to another organization – we will need to meet elsewhere.
Cinema Gift Cards for Speakers – David Leigh has offered to provide a $20 gift card to Grand Avenue Theater – each week – to include in the Speaker Mug.  Anyone else wanting to include something in the mug is welcome.
Scholarship for Charter School Students – Karen Stagner received an email question about whether our Scholarships were available to Charter School Seniors.  After lengthy discussion, it was determined that the current two Scholarships are specifically for BISD students.
Caps for Cancer – bottle caps (District) – Karen Stagner will get with Linda Vaughn to find out more about the bottle cap program and report at the next meeting.
Projects from General Account vs Foundation Account – Karen Stagner will get with District to get clarification for the Donor Wall; and for the Heritage Park Wall of Honor.

Program: Lion James Harrison invited Lion Dick Chapin, District 2-X3 Representative, Texas Lions Camp to provide an overview and update on this year’s camp (schedule attached).  Did you know that in the History of TLC, over 80,000 campers have been served. The Camp is 515 acres with 51 structures; featuring a fishing pier and boat house, ropes courses, gym, equestrian, infirmary & amphitheatre.  Camp registration opened January 3^rd to serve children with physical disabilities, down syndrome, and type 1 diabetes.  Thank you for an informative presentation!

Program: Lion Reese Davis invited Katie McCray, Exec. Dir., Foster Love Bell County to discuss foster care and what they do to provide for the children of our community who are suddenly out of the system.  There are 1,600 children in the Bell County Foster System.  Thank you for this wonderful program and everything they do at the Foster Love House.

The Board agreed to present a sign-up pledge sheet at the next lunch meeting. Danny Dossman pledged $100.00 and is challenging each member to match his pledge…or more. It was agreed that the pledges should not be invoiced with dues.
