– BOARD MEETING Recap:

            Specialty Products – the Board approved purchasing:

                        500 BLC personalized “Learn About Eye Care” kid’s coloring books

                        200 BLC personalized microfiber eyeglass cleaning cloths

            Eyeglass invoices from America’s Best for four BISD children – Board approved to pay

            BLC Constitution and By-Laws need to be updated – Committee: Brett Beamesderfer, Larry Berg,

              James Harrison, Jennah Gliha, Wayne Carpenter & Karen Stagner – emailed 10/20/24.

**         Charles “Mac” Hickerson – the Board approved submitting Mac to LCI for Life Membership.

REMINDERS and ANNOUNCEMENTS:

– The Club now has a re-built and renewed Facebook page: Belton Lions Club – Belton, Texas.  Please “like” and “follow”.  It’s not perfect – it just works!  Visit the photo albums that have been created on the page.

– October 19th – Fall Festival for Children with Special Needs and their Siblings, Central Texas Christian School, 2-4pm.  Update by Keith Cook … Numbers Served: 166 families – 401 children – 351 adults with special needs. Thank you to everyone who helped.

– Thanksgiving Baskets for Special Needs Community – sign-up sheet to be passed starting November 7th; delivery date November 21st.

– Project HEARTBEAT BISD Homeless – Tag distribution Nov. 18-20; Gifts are due back December 11th.
members agreed to increase the number to 20

– Pictures with Santa for Children with Special Needs and their Siblings will be Thursday, December 19th – 5:30pm – 8pm, Harris Community Center

– Nicknames – Danny Dossman reminded the Club that long ago, members had fun nicknames & suggested that we continue on with them:  David Tuma “Typo”; John Corsi “Music Man”; Danny Dossman “Digger”; Larry Berg “Bullet”: and so on ….

Program:  James Harrison – Kara Escajeda, former city Manager for Nolanville, now a grant consultant for Texas Parks & Wildlife – working with Belton on Standpipe renovation and park project.  She provided an overview of all available grants; especially grants that are available to our Club.  Great Presentation!  Thank You!

Keeping on the Front Burner:
– Stampede Bike Ride 2025 Date – April 26th, 2025 Brett has been working on route and will schedule a committee meeting soon.
– Mark Bellomy presented that Business Network International meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00am, Church of Christ on Hwy 317; they offer no charge membership to non-profits; he suggested that the Club might want to join the Network.
– Belton Lions Wall at Heritage Park – James Harrison coordinating
– Friends of Belton Lions – James Harrison coordinating
– LEO Club Update – Brett – future interested LEOs can help with events, as they further their plans.
– January District Meeting, January 18, Temple, Texas
– The Club now has a storage unit at Belton Mini Storage.  All supplies that were in Secretary’s personal storage are now in the Belton storage. Please contact Club Secretary for unit number and lock code to take supplies, information and records to storage.

– Lions Foundation Annual Report – Belton Lions Club Foundation By-Laws and Constitution. Texas Secretary of has provided a copy of the Articles of Incorporation from 1988.  By-Laws Committee to update soon.
