– Gatesville Fire Ant Tour – need one or two more volunteers for our Rest Stop (Sag Station) in their Ride. Saturday, June 13th. Lion Karen Stagner is planning to go. 

– 1st District Cabinet Meeting of the new Lion Year – July 18th, Coryell Museum and Historical Center, Gatesville. Sign-up sheet passed. 

– STAMPEDE P&L – Treasurer Rebecca Hutton – Thank you to everyone for helping us successfully profit right at $7K which covers the Heritage Park Partnership and both Scholarships! 

– FYI – Eldred’s Nursery Foundation Fundraiser – May 30th, 6-9pm, The Farm – flier 

Program: – Rob Potts – Judy Owens, Belton Senior Center – It is their mission to assist area Seniors (55+) in providing healthy, stimulating, and enjoyable activities for local seniors through financial and intellectual support. Exercise Classes, Dances, Bingo, Arts & Crafts, Table Games, just to name a few … “if it’s not fun, they don’t do it” … their May calendar of events is attached.  Thank you for a great program!

Lion Mary Shockley has also offered her Volkswagen convertible.  “Celebrating 250 Years of America!”– Parade Safety Meeting: Saturday, June 20th, 10-11am; June 24th, 6-7pm. Deadline to submit parade application is June 17, 2026.

– Texas Lions Camp – we have a family going to Family Camp – Session 9, July 22-24, 2026. Salazar Family of Four (4). Thank you Lion Keith Cook for coordinating this. PID Sam Lindsey will provide a Camp Tour at 2pm on Friday, July 24th. Six (6) Rooms at Super 8 have been reserved.

– Captain “D” Dash for “Sight”, October 3rd, Route totally within Heritage Park established; we have contracted and paid deposit to have a timed run to attract more runners – we’re still looking for underwriters for the Timing ($1,200), for Award Medals ($500), and for T-Shirts ($750). Who will help solicit?

– USA/Canada Leadership Forum, September 3-5, Memphis, Tennessee

– LCICON (International) 2030 will be in San Antonio, Texas; hosted by Texas Lions

Program: – David Tuma – Kayte Ricketts, Bell County Museum – an interesting and educational presentation about the Carnegie Library, History of the Museum, update on the Gault Site, using OSL dating instead of carbon dating, the mustache t-cup collection, activities for the littles and youth, as well as, adult Museum experiences.  Great Presentation!  Thank You!  – Service Metrics: 11,222 people served / 2,604.5 Volunteer Hours / $5,456 Donated / $6,786 Raised
 – Board approved purchasing an ad in the Penguin Project program book – $100
 – For STAMPEDE, Board approved purchasing 17 boxes of health snacks at 50% value from MPR Ladies Auxiliary – they were left-over from the recent Roses for Hoses 5K. – The Club will participate in the Belton 4th of July Parade with a walking entry.  New banner purchase was approved.  It was suggested that our mascot ride in a golf cart or on Danny’s spider bike.
 – This year’s Stampede T-Shirt will be purple with bright gold logos. 

Regular Business  

– CTBR (Central Texas BBQ Roundup) Financial Update from George Bunker will be at the next meeting.

– STAMPEDE on the Chisholm Trail, May 9th – only 2 weeks out from the STAMPEDE.
We currently have 45 paid riders signed up – ahead of where we were last year.  In the last two weeks before the 2025 ride, 54 riders signed up & 24 signed up on-site.
Swag Bag assembly has been changed to Friday, April 24th (150 bags)

– Environmental Week of Service, April 18-26 – Joint Project Opportunity –The District Clubs are building beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Saturday, April 25th, 8am-Noon) for homeless kids and new beds for Texas Lions Camp new bunkhouses.  Flier on tables.

Deadline for the t-shirts is tomorrow, April 17thDeadline for Sponsorships is also tomorrow, April 17th. Hand-out for Volunteer T-Shirts sign up passed.

We still need Swag Bag donations (150 bags) – company fliers, giveaways, discount coupons, etc. Swag Bag assembly is planned for Saturday, April 25th. Don Ringler Chevrolet is providing the bags for us to fill and pens for the bags. Lion Potts is contributing 150 items/coupons. And, of course, the Chamber is always generous with their contributions. If you or any of our sponsors have fliers or brochures to include in the bags, please let Lion Karen know asap.

We need Bib Raffle items (32) – Lion Pam Blair has contacted 17 companies & has items in-hand; Lion Rebecca Hutton has provided 4-$25 gift cards & 1-$100 gift card; Ladies Auxiliary MPR VFD is donating 6 items unclaimed from Roses for Hoses – so, we currently have 25 of the 32 items needed.

Board Meeting Recap:  Board met Thursday, March 19th

1) A Teenage Bike Club will be riding with us on STAMPEDE as a benefit fundraiser.  Their ride will be totally independent from our ride accounting.  No money will pass though Belton Lions Club.  However, we will issue them bib numbers – these bib numbers will not be eligible for the Bib Raffle.

2) The Board is reviewing our investment accounts – more information to follow.

3) For the Texas Lions camp Visit, July 24th, the Board approved a minimum of $500 to cover hotel costs for members participating.

4) Pam Blair and Kevin Hisel are attending the District Convention in Palestine, April 10th & 11th as Delegates for the Club.

5) The Board decided to discontinue “Open Meetings” on Board Meeting days – Program Chair Leigh will assign members to bring Programs.

Program: Lion Mary Shockley has invited Randy Dixon, Randy Dixon, Central Counties Services (MHMR) Heal Program & Loss Team. Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors; with Samantha, Team Member and survivor affected by family suicide. The HEAL initiative aims to reduce suicide rates and improve post-vention support for youth and families affected by suicide.  The LOSS team provides immediate post-vention services, resources, and care coordination to individuals, families and communities affected by suicide. Community Training / Prevention Services / Post-vention Services. Thank You!

Denise presented an exciting account, summary and insight into the CTE Program in BISD – focusing on 12 areas of study – industry common in Bell County, with hands-on learning inside and outside the classroom.  Industry based learning with a mentor program.
