Saturday, June 1st, 2019Captain Larkin O’Hern spoke to the Belton Lions this past Thursday. If you are unfamiliar with Larkin and his story, he is a 2004 Belton Graduate and a 2008 West Point Graduate with a decorated military career. In December of 2010, he was deployed in Afghanistan and on Patrol when tragedy struck. He was in a house along with another solider when a bomb went off, the bomb killed his fellow solider and Larkin lost one of his arms and both of his legs from the explosion. His survival of the blast is a miracle, and his recovery is a humbling and inspiring story. Thank you Lion Barry Harper for bringing him to speak.

Saturday, June 1st, 2019Belton Lions were honored today to hear from Dr. Susan Kincannon with an update on the Roadmap to BISD 2025. Thank you Lion Atmar for bringing Dr. Kincannon and this program. Today’s full house included several guests, including Captain Dinh Tat of our Adopted Unit at Ft. Hood, Lions District Governor Glenn Brandt, Past District Governor Lawrence Sanchez and the Honorable Judge Ted Duffield.

Their mission is to create a community which sparks creativity and curiosity of young children through hands on learning and interactive play. The traveling Museum without walls – now has a home in downtown Temple. Thank you for this wonderful presentation and all that you do. As an added treat, our incoming District Governor Lisle Meeker joined us for lunch!
