– Peace Poster Contest – Lion Keith announced the 6th grade winner of our Club’s poster competition and passed around a “copy” of her poster; which will be submitted and entered into the District contest.  She & her parents will be invited to an upcoming lunch meeting to present her with a certificate and award medal.
– 15th Annual Central Texas Fall Festival for the Special Needs Community, this Saturday, November 1st, 4-6pm, Central Texas Christian School – Team Members: Jennifer Ramirez, Pam Blair (and Jason), Keith Cook, Sam Listi, Clinton Bailey, George Bunker
– November 6th thru 8th – MD 2 Texas Lions Council of Governors Meeting, Hilton Garden Inn – Volunteers needed – request from DG Stacey – show of hands for availability – none noted.
– November 20th – Thanksgiving Basket Delivery – sign-up sheet passed and filled – Thank you (attached)
– November 20th – BISD Project Heartbeat Angel Tags available – BLC has adopted 20 tags (tags will be picked up on the 17th).  
– December 6th – McLane’s Children’s Hospital Holiday Party, 11am-2pm, Saturday, Hematology and Oncology patients – Sign-up sheet passed (attached). Our Club will set up Carnival Games and Prizes.  Event will be held at Temple High CTE building.
– December 6th, Belton Christmas on the Chisholm Trail Parade, evening, Saturday – (same day as McLane’s) –    Danny, Jennifer, George, Karen – maybe walk with banner; and have our mascot LINUS in the parade.
– December 11th is Christmas Basket delivery after lunch
– December 11th – Project Heartbeat Gifts due back – deliver to Christina (BISD)

– October 18thDistrict Cabinet Meeting, hosted by Harker Heights Lions – update Lion Fontenot – great fellowship with other clubs; we served a project by sorting eyeglasses to send to the eye center.
– The Club is participating in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lion PP Keith Cook presented the Club with 12 posters (from a total of 40 submitted) –club members voted for the three (3) finalists and one (1) overall winner to send to District; winner from District will move to compete in State; winner from State will go on to Nationals.  We will prepare Certificates for the forty submissions; and award medals to the three (3) finalists.
– 15th Annual Central Texas Fall Festival for the Special Needs Community, Saturday, November 1st, 4-6pm, Central Texas Christian School – planning meeting after lunch today – Team Members: Jennifer Ramirez, Pam Blair (and Jason), Keith Cook, Sam Listi, Clinton Bailey, George Bunker – (Karen out 10/31 thru 11/9)

New Business 

– McLane Children’s Hospital Holiday Party, Saturday, December 6th, Hematology and Oncology patients. Lions Clubs are invited to host an activity for the kids (invitation letter) – Lion Karen will find out what activities are still available; and will provide an interest sign-up sheet at the meeting on the 23rd

– Belton Christmas on the Chisholm Trail Parade, Saturday, December 6th (invitation letter) – mixed opinions, we’ll discuss again at the next Board meeting 

– Parks Meeting update – Lion(s) Keith & Karen – the next phase of Heritage Park is set to begin in 2027 and will include a long connected walkway along the River and possibly riverside lighting.  Regarding Lions Park – they (Parks & Planners) will keep us in the loop as to what we might be able to do updating that Park.

Program:
– LIONS on the LEON – After-Action Meeting / P&L – all said and done, the Club net income from the event is $2,975.38.
                After lengthy discussion about the Wacky Boat Race, it was agreed that 2025 ended the annual boat race event.
                The members also discussed whether or not the Picnic in the Park elements might be tagged onto the 5K race.

Lion Stagner advised the Club that the 5K on October 3rd 2026 would NOT be part of the CenTex Race Series – the other race directors pushed back on adding races which might decrease each of their runner participations.  The only available months to join the CenTex Series would be in February or August.  February 2026 would be too soon to effectively plan a race.  A committee will be formed to look at dates and routes, as well as, the feasibility of having a 2026 race. Soccer traffic was a major safety factor for our runners.Also, several runners commented that the Summit hill was too steep.

– Lion George Bunker offered a fundraising opportunity to the Club with his Central Texas Barbecue Round-up, scheduled for March 21, 2026.   He will work something up in writing to present to the Board for discussion and consideration.

 – Board Meeting notes:
 – Lion Treasurer Jennah is stepping back to focus on the new baby.  Lion Secretary is acting Secretary for now.
 – Cedar Crest Hospital Case Manager has reached out for assistance with eyeglasses for their “out of state” residents – the subject is under discussion for further review.
– America’s Best Eyeglasses Program has reached it’s budget for the current year – additional submissions will be reviewed by the Board prior to appointments.
– LIONS on the LEON – the Board reviewed the current status for layout, 5K, Picnic, Boat Race, T-Shirts.
– The Board approved having the ATM machine at the event again this year.
– Pam Blair advised the Board that she had already applied to a Temple Club; and was clarified that she could only be an Associate or Affiliate member of Belton Lions. 

Regular Business 

– Our Club will be selling the People’s Choice tickets and our Plate Spinning Contest at Belton, Bacon, Blues and Brews, September 27, Saturday. Pearl Pirate Ship to be delivered on Friday, after 2pm; and must be set and in place before 4pm; then, we need to pick up the canopy, tables, plates, signs, etc. at storage.

On Saturday morning, we meet with all supplies and set up downtown Belton at 9:00am.  Let’s have some Bacon, Blues and Brews Fundraising fun! 

– Then, Lion Karen could use one or two people to help her and one student on Sunday to deliver the 5K event notes and cookies along the run route – meeting at 3pm in the soccer field parking lot. She will hold out a few cookies just for YOU! Jennifer Ramirez volunteered. Thank You! 

– LIONS on the LEON (only about a week out)
  – Need company brochures, flyers and stuff for Swag Bags (75) need them NOW.
  – Silent – we now have eighteen (18) basket items on-hand and committed– Thank you.
  – Volunteer Sign-Up by area/category/time – like STAMPEDE – it’s all hands on deck – and kids, and spouses, and cousins – lots of new areas this year where volunteers will be needed – volunteer sign-up passed.

– Membership Report – 40 Active Members –2024-2025 4th Quarter Dues Payment Handout
                Gene Ellis letter – dropping from membership – no time – Lion Larry Berg is going to invite Chief Ellis to join us for lunch – we will present him with plaque commemorating his 23 years as a Lion – He has been a member of BLC since 2008; and was a Lion before with another Club since 2002.

Business 

– Lion Malinda Golden letter requesting time to speak with Belton Lions about upcoming BIDS bond. Lion Keith Cook is looking into a September date.

– Pulte Group letter of request for flag support; with our Club response; no update – Lions Larry Berg and Jon Fontenot are going to the Disabled Veteran’s Home Presentation tomorrow, Friday; and will visit with the Pulte Homes people for future Disabled Veterans Service and Support Opportunities.

– Captain “D” Dash for “Sight”
     – proposed event layout (handout) for discussion – Google Earth map with layout – added CERT.
    –  discuss suggestions to get more cash sponsors – we currently have $950 in sponsors; over $2,000 in expenses so far … ideas … 
– Eyeglasses with America’s Best – update (handout) – the vetting system had a hiccup recently which is being rectified.  With three (3) BLC members now training to do the screening and vetting, we will be better able to control recipients who “need” our assistance.  District Eye Screen Director is aware and will monitor & vet all referrals coming to BLC from outside our Club. 
– Printer – current Cannon TR4722 uses a lot of ink – Regular Cartridge 100 pages / XL Cartridge 300 pages
Handout – comparison of Epson Printers and Ink.  After discussion, the Board voted – motion by Lion Larry; 2nd by Lion James; approved to purchase Epson EcoTank ET-2800 Wireless Color All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer ($189) from Amazon – 4,500 pages (black XL / 7,500 pages – color XL) 
– Kerr County – No Update at this meeting – President Jon has been in touch with our Zone and District Disaster teams and will keep us updated as to when and how our Club might be able to help.
