– Membership Report – 40 Active Members –2024-2025 4th Quarter Dues Payment Handout
                Gene Ellis letter – dropping from membership – no time – Lion Larry Berg is going to invite Chief Ellis to join us for lunch – we will present him with plaque commemorating his 23 years as a Lion – He has been a member of BLC since 2008; and was a Lion before with another Club since 2002.

– Service Metrics Report – Total People Served since July 1st – 7,292 / Total # Volunteers 112 / Total Volunteer Hours 362 / Total Funds Donated $5,456.00 / Total Funds Raised $-0-

– Treasury Report –

Business 

– Lion Malinda Golden letter requesting time to speak with Belton Lions about upcoming BIDS bond. Lion Keith Cook is looking into a September date.

– Pulte Group letter of request for flag support; with our Club response; no update – Lions Larry Berg and Jon Fontenot are going to the Disabled Veteran’s Home Presentation tomorrow, Friday; and will visit with the Pulte Homes people for future Disabled Veterans Service and Support Opportunities.

– Captain “D” Dash for “Sight”
     – proposed event layout (handout) for discussion – Google Earth map with layout – added CERT.
    –  discuss suggestions to get more cash sponsors – we currently have $950 in sponsors; over $2,000 in expenses so far … ideas … 
– Eyeglasses with America’s Best – update (handout) – the vetting system had a hiccup recently which is being rectified.  With three (3) BLC members now training to do the screening and vetting, we will be better able to control recipients who “need” our assistance.  District Eye Screen Director is aware and will monitor & vet all referrals coming to BLC from outside our Club. 
– Printer – current Cannon TR4722 uses a lot of ink – Regular Cartridge 100 pages / XL Cartridge 300 pages
Handout – comparison of Epson Printers and Ink.  After discussion, the Board voted – motion by Lion Larry; 2nd by Lion James; approved to purchase Epson EcoTank ET-2800 Wireless Color All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer ($189) from Amazon – 4,500 pages (black XL / 7,500 pages – color XL) 
– Kerr County – No Update at this meeting – President Jon has been in touch with our Zone and District Disaster teams and will keep us updated as to when and how our Club might be able to help.

– There will NOT be a BLC Lunch Meeting on Thursday, August 28th.

– Vision Screening Training Classes, Saturday, August 23rd, 9am, Killeen Lions Den, 5100 Trimmier Rd., Lion(s) Karen, Jennah and Chris have registered.

– LIONS on the LEON (6 weeks out) – Handout – lots of needs listed on the handout – please READ. (let us know where you can help reduce these needs)  – Sponsor handout – challenge each member to bring back at least one sponsor at ANY level. We NEED sponsorships to offset cost to hold the event – printing, signs, prizes & awards, carnival games & prizes.

  – Need business flyers and/or coupons; and stuff for Swag Bags (75) and also need gift cards for Bib Raffle (10).

  – Silent/Bucket Auction – we have five (5) baskets so far – need more

  – Volunteer Sign Up by area/category/time will be available 1st week of September – like STAMPEDE – it’s all hands on deck – and kids, and spouses, and cousins – lots of new areas this year where volunteers will be needed

  – NOTE: Captain “D” 5K Dash for “Sight” will most likely be part of the Cen-Tex Race Series in 2026 – tentatively approved.

  – Belton U Event for Belton Employees, Bawcom Center, Thursday, August 28th.  (handout) … promote the Wacky Boat Race, Picnic in the Park, 5K too – as well as Club Membership. Lion Karen Stagner planning to attend and will take/provide all of the necessary supplies. Anyone Joining?

Karen has reached out the Lisle Meeker for possible dates, locations and times – TBD

– MD 2-X3 Cabinet Meeting, August 9th, recap – our Club is in great shape – informative Cabinet meeting.

– LIONS on the LEON (a little less than 2 months out)
  – Sponsor handout – challenge each member to bring back at least one sponsor at ANY level. We NEED sponsorships to offset cost to hold the event – printing, signs, prizes & awards, carnival games & prizes.

  – Mail-out and emails to Belton Businesses and past sponsors (200 businesses) out last week.

Three (3) cash sponsors so far: Smoke Eater Guitars, Cochran, Blair & Potts and RVOS Insurance; plus Woodhouse Day Spa, Goodnight Loving Vodka & H-E-B as in-kind; and one Vendor – Christy’s.
  – Picnic in the Park – Jay White and the Blues Commanders –Thank you to Judy Garrett
  – Captain “D” Dash for Sight – 5K Fun Run/Walk – handout – route has been finalized –Our fliers in runner packets for Community Connection 5K & Nolanville 5K Foxtrot. We are posted on Running in the USA and on RunGuides; as well as Run Sign-up.  We already have runners signed up.

– October 4th, LIONS on the LEON, Captain “D” Dash for Sight, 8:30am; Picnic in the Park, 10a-1p; Wacky Open & Cardboard Boat Race, People’s Choice Judging starts at 11am, race heats start at 1pm.
– October 10 & 11, Belton Polka on the Square, Save the Date – at this time, we’re unaware if we will be serving or helping.
– October 11 & 12, Rescue Magazine Pet Adoption Extravaganza, 10am-5pm – Save the Date – possibly lending the Black Pearl again.
– October 18th, District Cabinet Meeting, hosted by Harker Heights Lions
– November 1st, 2-4pm, CTCS, 14 Annual Fall Festival for families of children with special needs
– November 20 – Thanksgiving Basket Delivery
– December 11 – Christmas Basket Delivery (note – earlier date)
– December 18, (set up at 1pm), 5-8pm, Harris Center, Pictures with Santa for families of children with special needs.
– January 31st, District Mid-Winter Conference (Lorena), hosted by the Robinson Lions Club

– Lions Field @Smith and West 5th could use some updates. Jon Fontenot will get Parks & Rec to explore options – tabled until we have more information.
– The Club plans to participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Keith Cook will take the lead during the 2025-26 school year.
– Membership Milestone Awards – Will we be presenting these at Christmas?  The Board agreed that Milestones will be in five (5) year increments; starting at 10 year membership. – John Corsi and Jennah Gliha.  Secretary has provided a Report of each member’s length of membership. – No discussion at this meeting

– Belton Lions Wall at Heritage Park – James Harrison coordinating
– Girl Scout Troop 8121 Silver Award Project – The Board agreed to sponsor the Hammock Garden for $456. at the Belton Early Childhood School (BECS) Outdoor Learning Center Project. Instead, we have sponsored the actual garden – same price; Hammock Garden was already sponsored.
