– MD2-X3 Mid-Winter Cabinet Meeting – Saturday, January 27, McGregor, Texas – Recap
– Our Club was awarded the LCI Club Excellence Award for 2002-2023
– First Time Cabinet Meeting attendee Lion Mary Shockley won the Grand Prize Award – lighted, metal cutout of Texas Lions Children’s Camp logo.
– August 3rd will be the Texas Lions Museum Grand Opening in Kerrville
– Reminder: Chief Ellis Retirement Celebration – February 1, 3pm Cadence Bank Club – see you there.
– Presentation to Past President Mike Matthews / Club Excellence Award – Lion President (2023-2024) Keith Cook presented Lion Past President (2022-2023) with a commemorative pin from LCI for establishing Club Excellence during his term in office.
– Presentation to David Shaw – 10 Year Milestone Chevron Award – postponed until Lion David can attend.
– Charter Night (May 3rd) – James Harrison has scheduled a Committee Meeting for 11:30am, Thursday, Feb. 8th, prior to lunch.
– Wacky Boat Race – Danny Dossman will schedule a Committee Meeting soon to get started with Boat Race Plans.
– Stampede (June 8th) – Sponsor Forms are available / Please try to get at least one Sponsor for the Event.
– LEO Club Update – They are planning Service Projects for the students to get involved in the Community; and are open to suggestions for service opportunities.
– New Member Application – last week’s speaker – Nick Valentine has submitted his application.
Program: Lion Karen Stagner invited Chief Gene Ellis; who brought and introduced Deputy Chief Larry Berg. Belton has been blessed to have Chief Ellis. To quote Belton PD who said it best: “Leadership, grace and respect are just a few words that come to mind when we consider Chief Ellis and his nearly 15 years of service in Belton. We are better because of him”. We wish him all the best of everything in retirement and his future endeavors; and are honored that he is a member of our Belton Lions Family. We are excited for Chief Larry Berg and look forward to working with him for years to come.

Keeping on the Front Burner:
– Texas Lions Camp – we have a camper for the July 23rd Weekend.
– Stampede Date Update from Meeting (Brett Beamesderfer, Reese Davis, Jennah Gliha, Bree Vlam, Veronica Logan, Christa Strang, Karen Stagner, John Corsi) – Date changed to June 8th.
– Charter Celebration – (James Harrison, Cri Childs, David Leigh, Rob Potts, Mark Bellomy, John Fontenot) 85th Anniversary of the Belton Lions Club – Belton Lions Club first met in 1938; Chartered April 21st 1939. Celebration scheduled for Friday, May 3rd in the evening. Lion Harrison advised that we have two sponsoring underwriters; and are urging others to sponsor; members and guests will be sponsored. He plans to invite District Dignitaries to join us as our guests.

– James Harrison announced that Temple Founders Club member, Mr. Hightower, would like our Club to consider partnering with them for their annual Follies fundraiser event.
