Announcements – Board Meeting notes:
– Lion Treasurer Jennah is stepping back to focus on the new baby. Lion Secretary is acting Secretary for now.
– Cedar Crest Hospital Case Manager has reached out for assistance with eyeglasses for their “out of state” residents – the subject is under discussion for further review.
– America’s Best Eyeglasses Program has reached it’s budget for the current year – additional submissions will be reviewed by the Board prior to appointments.
– LIONS on the LEON – the Board reviewed the current status for layout, 5K, Picnic, Boat Race, T-Shirts.
– The Board approved having the ATM machine at the event again this year.
– Pam Blair advised the Board that she had already applied to a Temple Club; and was clarified that she could only be an Associate or Affiliate member of Belton Lions.
Regular Business
– Our Club will be selling the People’s Choice tickets and our Plate Spinning Contest at Belton, Bacon, Blues and Brews, September 27, Saturday. Pearl Pirate Ship to be delivered on Friday, after 2pm; and must be set and in place before 4pm; then, we need to pick up the canopy, tables, plates, signs, etc. at storage.
On Saturday morning, we meet with all supplies and set up downtown Belton at 9:00am. Let’s have some Bacon, Blues and Brews Fundraising fun!
– Then, Lion Karen could use one or two people to help her and one student on Sunday to deliver the 5K event notes and cookies along the run route – meeting at 3pm in the soccer field parking lot. She will hold out a few cookies just for YOU! Jennifer Ramirez volunteered. Thank You!
– LIONS on the LEON (only about a week out)
– Need company brochures, flyers and stuff for Swag Bags (75) need them NOW.
– Silent – we now have eighteen (18) basket items on-hand and committed– Thank you.
– Volunteer Sign-Up by area/category/time – like STAMPEDE – it’s all hands on deck – and kids, and spouses, and cousins – lots of new areas this year where volunteers will be needed – volunteer sign-up passed.
– Lions ZONE C-2 Meeting, (SPOUSES WELCOME) Sept. 25 (Thursday evening), 6pm, Feed My Sheep Sunrise Center, hosted by Temple Breakfast Lions Club, meal provided by Temple Feed My Sheep. Zone Clubs: Belton, Rosebud Lott, Salado, Temple Belton Ladies, Temple Breakfast & Temple Founder. Sign up sheet passed – spouses Welcome
– October 18th, District Cabinet Meeting, hosted by Harker Heights Lions – sign up sheet passed
Program: Lion Clint Bailey has invited Major (ret.) Josh Shaver, M.S., CTCM, US Army Veteran, Henry T. Waskow Post 4008 to speak. He is Military Programs Manager for Samaritan’s Center; Current focus areas of MAJ Shaver’s team are their partnership with Fort Cavazos, the Veterans Affairs, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Austin Police Department and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office – Military Veteran Peer Network. Thank you.

Keep on the Front Burner/Mark Your Calendar:- LEO Club – the Club has been asked to join with Temple Breakfast Lions to support their existing LEO Club – this is a liaison commitment request; not monetary. We need a member to volunteer to be our Club liaison with Dr. Ponder and Dorree Collins. Please consider volunteering to meet with Dr. Ponder and Dorree to get more information– Lion President Jon volunteered to meet with them to get more information. Karen has reached out the Lisle Meeker for possible dates, locations and times – TBD
– BLC Fundraiser Cruise – March 1-8, 2026 from Galveston onboard the Regal Princess – with stops in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan – includes all port charges, round trip transportation to the pier in Galveston and a breakfast on the charter bus. – October 18th, District Cabinet Meeting, hosted by Harker Heights Lions
– October 26th, Camp Tahuaya Trunk or Treat, 3-5pm – we’ve been invited to set up a “trunk” … deadline to sign up: Oct. 18
– November 1st, 2-4pm, CTCS, 14 Annual Fall Festival for families of children with special needs
– November 20 – Thanksgiving Basket Delivery
– December 11 – Christmas Basket Delivery (note – earlier date)
– December 18, (set up at 1pm), 5-8pm, Harris Center, Pictures with Santa for families of children with special needs.
– January 31st, District Mid-Winter Conference (Lorena), hosted by the Robinson Lions Club
– April 11th, District Convention, hosted by the Palestine Lions Club
– Lions Field @Smith and West 5th could use some updates. Jon Fontenot will get Parks & Rec to explore options – tabled until we have more information.
– The Club plans to participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Keith Cook will take the lead during the 2025-26 school year.
– Membership Milestone Awards – Will we be presenting these at Christmas? The Board agreed that Milestones will be in five (5) year increments; starting at 10 year membership. – John Corsi and Jennah Gliha. Secretary has provided a Report of each member’s length of membership. – No discussion at this meeting
– Update on Cadence Bank – CD and other – on hold
– Belton Lions Wall at Heritage Park – James Harrison coordinating
