Thank you to Lion VP Keith Cook for officiating the lunch meeting last week – Great Job!

Board Meeting Recap:
Name Badges have been ordered for all new members.
Tail Twister Danny Dossman will start 50/50’s and Raffles
100 new Heavy Duty USA Flags have been ordered and have arrived.
Initial membership application fee raised from $35 to $50 to cover badge expense.

Update from March 29th STAMPEDE Committee Meeting.
Rest Stops: #1 KOM Cyclery; # 2 healthmarkets; # 3 redbox+ of Central Texas; # 4 CenTex Automotive; # 5 Hickerson Family.
Free Hot Dogs – post ride: Lou Griffin will be Lion Team Leader – assisted by either HOCTIL or Eldred’s Nursery children with special needs.
Snow Cones: KOM Christina’s daughter will be Team Leader for BLC – assisted by Belton High School Special Needs Department students.  This will be a fundraiser & all proceeds will benefit BHS Dept.
STRAVA interactive maps have been created by KOM and will be given to the registered riders.  Ride routes have changed slightly and have been approved. Photos of the routes are attached to this recap.
Event T-Shirt order deadline is Wednesday, April 5th – t-shirt order will be placed during week of 4/10.
Sponsors wishing to receive all benefits, including event t-shirts must also be in by April 5th.
Patti Powell has volunteered to help Reese Davis contacting and following up on Sponsors.
Reese Davis has ordered 100 Welcome Bags from the Belton Chamber of Commerce.
Patti Powell will be Team Leader for on-site Registration; Veronica Logan will be Event T-Shirt on-site coordination.  Registration recap and planning meeting will be held during week of April 17th.
KOM will be providing SAG wagon; and will be providing the drink powder for the rest stop(s) igloo coolers.
Routes will be marked on Thursday; then rechecked on Friday – John Wiist, KOM, has volunteered to help mark route.
Reese Davis will coordinate with Sam Listi for tables, chairs, trash cans, restrooms, etc.
Redbox+ Christa Strang will be providing three (3) sanitation station/dumpsters for the ride this year.
Newspaper ads and
are scheduled for Thursday, April 20th. 

Picnic in the Park, October 7th  – update from March 28th Committee Meeting. Plans are progressing for the Band, stage, Fish Fry, etc. The next meeting will be on-site at Heritage Park.  Anyone wanting to attend, please be at the Lions Pavilion, Tuesday, April 11th at 1:00pm.

Lions on the Leon Wacky Boat Race, October 7th – Danny Dossman – We are in need of LARGE cardboard boxes – to start building our boat. Danny reported that it looks like we already have 8-9 wacky boat entries. Flier and Rules are attached to this email Recap in .pdf format.  The next meeting date has not been set yet – it will probably be scheduled for a date after Easter.

Marek-Smith Training Center Donor Wall – Two (2) member pledges are remaining unpaid – we should have them next meeting. Once pledges have been paid, Kelly Boggs will come to lunch; pick up the check & make the arrangements to have “Belton Lions Club Foundation” listed on the Donor Wall of the building at UMHB.

HOCTIL families – five (5) Easter Food Baskets – Assembly and Delivery scheduled for next Thursday, April 6th.  PLEASE bring items to lunch with you – Thank you for your support of this project!

Program: – Keith Cook – Dr. Stephanie Ferguson, BISD Director of PK-12 Career Readiness – an update on all of BISD Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.  Challenge ~ Prepare ~ Empower. As students prepare for the workforce of tomorrow, CTE teachers prepare them to become college and career-ready by offering career exploration, employability, technical, and job-specific training in specific career clusters. In the past three years, more than 300 students have demonstrated skills at district, regional, state and national CTSO competitions.  Great Program!  Thank You!

85th Anniversary of the Belton Lions Club – James Harrison is planning a Celebration. James explained that Belton Lions Club first met in 1938; then Chartered in 1939.
