·         Program:  Lion Lisle Meeker presented a tutorial on Lions Vision Screening. In 1925, Lions were knighted by Helen Keller as Knights to the Blind.  Around the world, Lions partner with medical professionals and community leaders to screen young children, primary school students, and adults to identify those at risk for vision loss. The venue for Lions’ vision screenings varies from schools, to workplaces, to community health fairs, and the screening methods depend upon the age group.  Lion Meeker demonstrated the equipment with Lion Beamesderfer. With two of the machines, Lions can screen 400 children in one half a day. The District owns seven of the screening machines; and several Clubs have purchased their own.  To be able to screen children in the schools; Club members will need training and to obtain State Certification.  District Vision Chair Lea Ann Batey will contact our Club when the next Certification class is scheduled. The screening equipment with case, printer & service agreement would cost approximately $8K; and we could reach out to secure grant funding to cover the cost.  Great, Informative Presentation! (see attachment)
