President’s Announcement:
President Harrison announced that his wife will be retiring soon; and that they are taking time off to travel.
Lion Vice-President John Corsi has agreed to move up to the Presidency for the remainder of the Club year.  President Harrison has agreed to move to the 2nd Vice President position.  We wish them the BEST for their well deserved traveling vacations; and we THANK President Harrison for his dedication to and rebuilding of the Belton Lions Club.
Program:  Lion Ellis invited Jennifer Gibson, Belton PD Crime Victim Liaison to talk with us about their programs and efforts to assist crime victims.  Ms. Gibson outlined her role as Crime Victim Coordinator for the Belton Police Department. She began her job on 7/27/21, in what is a grant-funded position, through the Central Texas Council of Governments. The grant is funded on an annual basis, so effective performance of crime victim services will be important to secure additional years of funding. Some of her key tasks include:
Communicating with victims of crime in person, in writing, over the phone
Assisting crime victims in applying for available assistance
Keeping victims aware of the status of investigations
Maintaining a strong working relationship with regional victim assistance and advocacy groups to facilitate service delivery
Working closely with PD investigators by contacting crime witnesses and victims
Training agency personnel on crisis intervention and victim services
Thank You!
