Announcements –
– Friends of the Belton Lions plaque for Marion Grayson was presented November 10th at her Retirement Reception. Many of our Club members were present along with City, County, State and National officials to honor her service to Belton, Texas.
– Secretary Stagner thanked members for their dedicated service to our USA Flag Program – picking up all of the 231 flags that we had placed to fly at resident’s homes throughout the program year 2020. We will schedule a date in December or January to assess and repair our inventory for the 2021 season.
– Christmas Dinner on December 17th: As this is a dinner meeting, the cost for the meal will be $30 per person. Belton Lion Member meal cost will be absorbed by the Club; spouses/guests can be invoiced for the cost. As the seating will be limited to 40 people total, a sign up sheet was passed – this will need to be an RSVP event. District Governor Randy Sepulvado will present 25 year chevrons to Lion Tuma and Lion Dossman and a 10 year chevron to Lion Reyes. Hope we have all three in attendance. Ron Tubbs will entertain us and the President has some exciting and surprising plans.
– President’s Challenge: Our Club has reached the “match” amount and President Harrison has written his pledged match check for $500. On December 3rd, we will present Dick Chapin, District Representative for Texas Lions Camp, with a giant check in the amount of $1,000. President Harrison will get the check created and ordered.
– Thanksgiving Baskets for HOCTIL families with children with special needs – donation sign-up sheet passed around – for items to fill each of the five (5) baskets. (attached to this email).
Program –
Our Guest Speaker, Dr. John Vassar, Provost and VP for Academic Affairs / UMHB – who is also one of our USA flag program participants provided an overview of the COVID challenges affecting the College – CRUFlex and more – all positive – rising to the challenge – and actually increased enrollment! Imagine the logistics of installing cameras and microphones in each of the classrooms … not to mention the wiring, the cables, the programming … Go CRU!
